It won't let me do this because I don't live in Australia. Maybe you should have said, "Do this if you live in Australia only".

Pretend you do, Carol.

A survey is about thoughts of a people, not what country you live in.

NO! won't do it. What's the point of tampering with the results.
This survey has nothing to do with thoughts, it barely has anything to do with being LGBTXYZ. It really really has nothing to do with Intersex.

So why tamper with the survey?

Well,

Having seen the survey, the following caught my eye :

Quote :
Why complete the survey?

This survey is aimed to provide information about the health and wellbeing of individuals living in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) communities across Australia. It will provide information about concerns and key issues individuals in the GLBT communities have regarding their utilization of health services and about their general wellbeing.

I can see some of us may want to respond however I am neither of the described. Up to everyone of you to anonymously join in the survey or not.

Not being GLBorT and not in Australia, I do not feel inclined to take survey. However, if I wanted to critique the survey, I might answer the questions, up to a point, and then exit. In the intro, it stated that any questionnaire not completed would not be used in the survey.

II understand your perspective.

The reason Intersex needs to complete this is to get our numbers up. I wrote on our face book about it.

It is a catch 22 where the victim has to do the fixing however if few Intersex respond we will continue to be ignored as an insignificant minority. If we respond in Numbers we will be able to argue more effectively for I inclusion and from that flows resource and funding.

We are continually hit with the disaffected minority small in numbers because we continually disengage because we are continually excluded. We need to shout down these people and insistently participate rather than sulk and take our baseball bat home.

By excluding us and pissing us off they succeed in effectively shutting us up .

Every time you see a survey fill it in and proclaim your Intersex and remember the maxim "vote early and vote often"

If you want to live in Australia for the purposes of inclusion Sydney postcode is 2000 Melbourne 3000. Google a street and live there for a few hours..

You have no idea how important it is for us to be included in landmark surveys. This one will be used by government departments Australia wide and further to declare demographics and allocate resources

We have got to stop our anger from silencing us.

Skewing a survey to me is futile. I know you are taking every angle possible to help the cause and I respect that.

Bottom line our issue revolves around money. We don't cost anything so we don't exist. We are not a thorn in someone's side so we don't exist. We are such a minority...we don't exist.

What we need to do is to start costing them money and be a thorn in the side. We need to sue the crap out of them. I'm thinking about sewing Yale New Haven Hospital for what they did to me. If I sue them and win then the hospital will need to pay using their insurance company, Insurance company's don't like to loose money so they will tell the hospital "stop doing that". I know it would be an uphill battle and don't know if a lawyer would help but we will see.

According to Andre you have to pretend that you do. Myself I don't really see why we should swell the Australian population when they don't really want anyone to actually move overthere.

Well, as Gina explained (which would have made things easier in the first place) is that we as an Intersex group are totally ignored in a lot of respects. It's more like slapping them into realization that we are not to be ignored at any one time. For the most of you, you probably don't see the issues Gina and I see when it comes to being recognized as a group where our presence is merely passed over in making way to other groups such as sexual orientations groups and those of the hard core transgenders.

Besides, how many people do you think live in Australia and out of that how many will respond ? Maybe less than 1% ? I am quite sure that our participation would not even bring it to 1.5 %.

Again, all of this is up to you, the title should have been "your help in this Australian survey would be appreciated".

Don't participate and don't complain when you are ignored ...simple.

I don't get it . Complain complain about being ignored and treated badly and this one you don't even have to get out of your seat to do and still you don't want to .

Every reason in the world to do nothing and no reason to do anything to help yourself?

legal case princsss???

Right to run one here we need two things about 100K and a case. Can't get the money and cant get the Intersex person to come out and expose themselves to public scrutiny that such a case would involve. As for running one to prevent surgery no one will tell us when surgery is being contemplated .

Sorry Andre It didn't seem such a complicated request.

Oh and to supose this study will only apply to Australians is mistaken.

The Monash centre is respected worldwide and will be cited ad nauseum in papers and by governments around the world when they want to dismiss Intersex as a tiny minority.

That is an understatement, Gina.

I mean, it took a while until even the xxy community finally have come around to accepting that Intersex can be a natural part of their being. Even then, discussions go round and round. Recently we were accused of influencing parents to abort their children. Talk about being cheesed, I was seething.

Gina,

Feel free to be cheesed off at me. I don't remember what intersex condition you have CAH? First off most people don't know what any intersex condition is...What is CAH? What is intersex? But when you tell them your a hermaphrodite that is a different story. That is what I am. I don't have some cute acronym like AIS , CAIS, or CAH. So when you stand up and say "Hay, I'm a Hermaphrodite" the first thing people think of is "chicks with dicks" with full breasts and a dick a horse would be proud of. Or they think of some trans person that looks like a guy, sounds like a guy, but wears a dress and jumps up and down saying this is not a mental disorder I'm intersex. So my guess is most real intersex people don't want to associate with that kind of image. Besides it's none of there business.

100K not a problem...yes a legal case. I assume you did not have your sex reassigned at birth...well I did and I did not give them my permission to give me a sex change at 11 days old. At that point I will come out and stand up and I will tell you that I am a real hermaphrodite so I don't look and sound like some ugly dude in a dress.

So cheese away... I will not partake in your endeavor. I will not lie for you or any other. Most intersex people think the other intersex person is not real...lier...fake anyway. Now you are proving it by asking others to lie for you.

If the only way you can bring attention to the intersex community and fight for the cause is by being dishonest, telling people to lie on a survey that does not pertain to them, have intersex penciled in the condition because intersex is not even an option.

Andre,

The reason we are over looked is because someone decided to pair us up with, Gay people...I'm not gay....Trans people...I'm not trans...Bisexual...I'm not Bisexual...Transgenders...I'm not Transgenders.....Queer...not that either

So when you stick us at the end of the GLBTQ.....................I we are lost.

If you want to change something stand up for yourself and stop riding the coat tails of people we have little in common with.

You are a great example of someone making a statement for your cause because your making your own statement and not waiting for something that you can agree to from and outside source.

This is the way I see it.

Princessss

Your personal attacks are unacceptable.

I disagree with your take on LGBTIQ. We have had more success legally by engaging with LGBTIQ in two years than we have had in the last fifty. Intersex news in the mainstream press has been by and large lifted from the queer press.

In one hundred years of Intersex activism by parents doctors and even Intersex as a standalone , not a single law not a single right. In two years with LGBTIQ help we will have full recognition in human rights law in Australia we will have the right to marry and possible even the right not to specify our sex on cardinal documents.

Intersex issues are regulary reported in Australian Queer press we even have a regular column in one. We are routinly invited to minesterial confrences and the Human rights comission as a result of Queer lobing on our behalf. I will speak with the A.G and Minister for health next month because of Inclusion by LGBTIQ organisations.

United we stand devided we fall.

I am proud of my association with my LGBTIQ friends.

Personal attacks??? What personal attacks of mine are unacceptable?

We both have the right to our opinions. I don't get "cheesed" if we disagree so why do you get "cheesed" when I disagree with you?

If someone like me can get you in a knot by asking questions or disagreeing with your tactics or agenda then I think you have the wrong job. That is not a personal attack just my opinion.

Sorry that I'm not an Intersex elitist like you to where only my opinion counts.
Now that was a personal attack.

So here is my "sorry" for that statement.

By the way, being that this pole is not allowing some people to partake in this dishonest request of yours...I'll bet this pole is looking at URL's so that people like you can't skew the results.

There is no united in the Intersex world. So be proud of your friends that are united.

Lets tread carefully here people. I can see both sides of the case and don't think any of the comments were intended personally. Lets leave individuals out of it and deal with the issues or it WILL be locked.

I just haven't had time to reply to this thread it really caught my eye. I've been watching it all week. I think that being a part of LGBTIQ is where we need to be. It doesn't matter how many acts get passed that say that we should not be discriminated against or that we can now marry; we'll always be different, just like LGBT persons. And I do agree that we are making headway because we are grouped together.

Although intersex itself encompasses many different conditions, we all recognize that we belong together, right? Right. Why? Because we're different. Different from what? From the "normal"people.

In the beginning there was only one kind of peoples. Normal heterosexual males and females. Then there were homosexuals; gays, lesbians and bisexuals. Then trans people began to come out of the closet and then intersex. All of us with our differences will go much further together. And so much of the time we hear that LGB refers to sexual attraction and the rest deal with sexual or gender identification. But still, we're all related by our differences.
